Gems & Infusion Guide
Gems and infusion modify armor and some weapons with resistance shifts, minor stat bonuses, or visual flair. Infusion becomes critical before Breach Hardcore where elemental damage spikes — patch lightning armor before lightning zones on Breach map.
Gem Types
Resistance gems plug elemental gaps without full armor set swaps. Stat gems bump Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, Health, Stamina, or Focus slightly — rarely replacing level investment but bridging requirement thresholds temporarily.
Infusion Process
Interact crafting bench → select infusion → choose gem → pay mats. Some infusions reduce other resistances — read preview carefully. Test against target boss before committing all pieces.
Build Integration
Strength tanks infuse physical resist for blocking builds. Dexterity players infuse lightweight pieces maintaining medium roll. Casters prioritize Focus regen infusion if available over redundant Intelligence gems once stat soft-capped.
Farming Gems
Elite drops, hidden chests in Nameless Pass, Crucible reward caches. Trade surplus with co-op partners in Realms if drop rules allow duplicate gem types.
Enchantments stack separately — see enchantments guide.
Resistance Planning by Zone
Lowland Meadows and Rookery rarely demand specific infusions — physical damage dominates. Marin Woods introduces mixed elements in elite attacks. Nameless Pass environmental hazards punish wrong resistances on cliff fights. Breach Hardcore sectors require targeted infusion before entry — map elemental themes on Breach map and infuse accordingly.
Stat Gem Threshold Bridging
Stat gems offer temporary requirement bridging — equip +Strength gem to preview Fetid Club before committing respec points. Remove gems before final build commit; permanent stats from leveling outperform gem reliance. Intelligence and Faith gems help hybrid experiments pre-floor-five without full respec.
Infusion Cost Management
- Infuse chest first — largest resistance surface.
- Match party infusion in co-op to cover dual elements.
- Keep spare gems for overwrite when Breach sub-zone changes.
- Do not infuse C-tier armor destined for immediate replacement.
Visual and Stat Preview
Infusion bench UI shows resistance shifts before confirm — negative side effects on secondary resistances are common. Screenshot preview when testing Hardcore loadouts. Armor tier list on armor tier list identifies base pieces worth long-term infusion investment versus transitional B-tier fodder.
Dual-Element Breach Prep
Some Breach routes transition fire sector into lightning sector within one session — carry spare gems or return hub mid-session for infusion overwrite. Co-op parties assign elemental coverage across four armor sets rather than one player carrying all resistances.
